Rain is the reason most walks get cancelled, and the bigger the dog the longer the towel routine afterwards. This suit covers the parts that actually get wet — back, chest, belly and all four legs down to just above the paw — so a grey forecast stops being a decision.

The collar is the piece that does double duty. Worn down it stands up around the neck and keeps water from running onto the chest. When it turns heavier, it pulls up over the head as a hood with a soft elasticated edge around the face opening, so your dog’s eyes, nose and mouth stay completely open to the air and their ears sit inside. Nothing covers the face.

Getting it on is one motion rather than a wrestling match. A zip runs down the front placket, so the suit opens wide enough to step a large dog into it instead of threading four legs one at a time, and an adjustable strap with a side-release buckle sets the neck to your dog’s build. Elasticated cuffs gather above each paw so the legs stay put while they move.

The shell is a Taslan weave that beads rain instead of soaking it up, and thin reflective piping follows the colour-block seams across the collar, shoulders, chest and hind legs, which is what you want on a dark afternoon. An opening under the flap on the upper back lets the leash pass through to the collar underneath, so you clip up exactly the way you already do.

Sizes run 3XL to 8XL, covering dogs from roughly 22 lb to 110 lb. Measure your dog’s back length and chest girth against the size chart before choosing — that is a more reliable fit than weight alone.

Rinse or wipe down after wet walks and hang to dry away from direct heat — heat wears down the waterproof coating. Skip bleach, softener, and ironing.
