Most walking harnesses need a leash clipped to them. This one has the leash inside it. A flat eight-sided reel sits on the shoulder blades and pays out 51 inches of thin reflective line: draw it out and it feeds, let go and it winds itself back in, pull it sharply and it locks where it is. What you hold at the far end is a short padded webbing loop, not a plastic body, so there is nothing to carry when the line is in.
Across the back, a webbing band arches clear of the panel with an open slot underneath – wide enough for a whole hand, not two fingertips – so a dog can be brought to your leg in one movement when a car door opens or something comes round a corner. A second black ring hangs under that band, and a thin silver ring sits flush in the binding of a mesh pocket on the chest strap, where an ID tag can be clipped and dropped in so it stops swinging and ringing.
The whole inside face is one moulded memory-foam pad – a chest yoke, a vented spine strip and a broad belly panel – so pressure from a pull spreads across padding rather than landing on a single band of webbing. Two side-release buckles, one on the neck strap and one on the girth strap, mean nothing has to be lifted through anything; ladder-lock adjusters on both straps set the fit once. Grey reflective stripes run down every webbing strap and a reflective cord outlines each panel.
