Places to Go · TuckTrail Field Note
Fort Funston opens onto wind, sand, and a wide Pacific horizon. It can turn a free half-day into something that feels much larger, but the landscape asks for attention as well as wonder.
The National Park Service says dogs may be on or off leash only in allowed areas and under voice control. Respect the signed 12-acre closure, keep well back from cliffs, and check current notices before leaving home.
A simple half-day rhythm
Arrive with time to read the signs. Begin slowly, pause for water before your companion asks, and turn back while everyone still has energy for the climb and sand.
Confirm before you go: weather, closures, and current pet rules on the official Fort Funston page.
